| RESTORING ANCIENT SPIRITUALITY By C.E.Chaffin |
I HAVE BEEN accused of attempting to take the subject of religion beyond the basic,
traditional viewpoint in vogue today. The accusers have said that my teachings go
beyond those of nominal Churchianity to a place where only a few astute minds are
capable of following. One man actually wrote me a letter asking if my aim was to
“raise up a ‘Church of The Intellectual’ rather than a group made up of Believers in
the “Faith Once Delivered.”
TO ALL THOSE ACCUSATIONS I SAY: “I AM GUILTY, IN A LIMITED WAY!”
For I am trying to elevate your consciousness and spirit to a very lofty height. For it is
on such a place that one begins to understand the mind of the Creator. I do teach
beyond the basic understanding of normal religion where only a few minds are
capable of understanding. And, yes, it would be nice if I could raise up a “Church of
The Intellectual,” not the kind of “intellectual” most think about when they hear the
word. But, the kind of intellectual that is capable of grasping the same kind of higher
spiritual concepts enjoyed by the ancient Ecclesia, instead of the viewpoints and
understanding of the modern church.
I do differ with people who say that I go “beyond the faith once delivered.” Because I
am convinced that the early Believers of Yahshua’s time comprehended a brand of
spirituality that has not been known by our present ministers and spiritual teachers
for at least 2000 years. I AM TRYING TO RESTORE THAT BRAND OF THEOLOGY
to the world!
I’ve known ministers and lay people alike who believed that the true mark of a
Christian was one’s ability to memorize the Bible … to be able to recall various texts
and to remark on them extemporaneously. I’ve even known ministers whose entire
capability was based on being able to recite the entire Bible from memory.
Well, I’m sorry friends, but real spirituality has nothing to do with how many Bible texts
you memorize. It has to do with how much you understand – and know.
Real spirituality is made up of a Believer’s understanding of Yahweh’s purpose in the
universe, and how we fit into that purpose. Understanding that purpose can never be
complete if the Believer does not care enough about his or her religion and
spirituality to investigate it and know it from its basic most fundamental aspects right
on through to the Divine Science that lies behind it all.
Most people actually play with their religion and their church. They choose their place
of worship not because it was right or correct in doctrine and history, but because
they feel good when they go there or they were looking for a “church home” when
they began attending. That’s why so many ministers invite people to make their
church a “church home.” They choose their place of worship because of its “comfort
factor,” not the doctrine. Most people believe that their children need the church in
their little lives and use that need to choose a good church to attend. They choose to
attend that particular place to worship because the minister and staff treat their
children well. Hardly anyone seems to examine the doctrinal stance of a particular
place of worship because they simply do not study their Bibles well enough to know
the difference. Hardly anyone considers that Yahweh Almighty might have built into
our genetics the ability for high conceptual understanding so that they might study
for themselves and learn enough to teach their own children the basics of truth, and
thus help them construct a platform to assist them in formulating their own spiritual
future.
And, just in case you think I’m not qualified to make the statements placed in this
letter, just let me say: I’VE BEEN THERE! In my ministry I’ve assisted in the
construction of five Bible believing churches. I’ve preached in the finest of buildings,
and in outdoor parks where congregations met in the open. And, yes, there were
times when what I had to say began to conflict with the versions of doctrine
congregations wanted to believe, I was “blacklisted.” And, when faced by the need to
see our children taught the Bible my wife and I established our own place in the home
where the kids might be taught rather than surrender to the errors of the church
system.
My approach to Bible truth is geared much like my approach to teaching the children.
I have a degree in theology, yet my greatest educational, religious and spiritual
understanding is self taught due to the fact that the organization that sponsors my
degree is anchored in its own devised doctrinal understanding rather than in the
Bible. While working in an ordinary job I took the time to study, go to libraries, visit
theologians for in-depth conversations, and I studied the Hebrew Lexicon and
dictionary and concordances. I telephoned both creation scientists as well as
physicists in order to grasp the differences between religion and science. I began to
understand that the gulf dividing the complete Bible and science is more the mis-
understanding of the human mind rather than the revelations of science and the
Bible.
Understanding all of this is the reason why CONTACT!!! Exists and why we, here at
our spiritual labs, continue to dig deeper into truth from a universal perspective.
