In the Companion Bible there is an interesting discussion on the subject of astrology. For those of you who have this
particular Bible, you can find it in appendix 12, "The Stars Also." Gen. 1:14-19 tells Yahweh’s purpose for creating
the heavenly bodies. One of these purposes is "for Signs." Those who understand these signs are enlightened by
them. Those who do not may well be "dismayed" by them. Jer. 10:2. The stars are numbered and named by
Yahweh. There are twelve signs of the Zodiac, called "the stars" in Gen. 37:9, (eleven of which bowed down to
Joseph’s, the twelth).
The twelve "signs" go back to the foundation of the world. Jewish tradition, preserved by Josephus, assures us that
this Bible astronomy originated with Adam, Seth, and Enoch. In Gen. 11:4, concerning the Tower of Babel, the
original ("may reach unto", which is in italics, has been wrongly supplied) reads "his top with the heavens." These
words, doubtless, refer to the signs of the Zodiac, pictured at the top of the Tower, like the Zodiacs in the Temples
of Denderah, and Esneh in Egypt. I will get to more of this in the next newsletter.
Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign, ruled by Jupiter, and is the 9th sign of the Zodiac, from November 22 to December
21. Its key phrase is "I see." This phrase comes from these people’s ability to see the future by their understanding
of current trends of thought and their keen insights, which border on prophecy.
This is the sign of honesty and straightforwardness represented by the arrow flying swiftly to its goal. But there is a
downside to these traits. These people do not have a subtle approach to life. They will often jump to conclusions
without getting all the facts. If one associates with Sagittarians, he had best grow a thick skin because he will hear
the undiluted truth. They can be ruthless with their enemies.
Sagittarians love travel, freedom and excitement through adventure. The best line of work for them is one where
they can use their creativity.
Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, ruled by Saturn, and is the 10th sign of the Zodiac, from December 22 to January
19. Its key phrase is "I use."
Capricorns have a need to make something of themselves. They are neat and methodical in their work and tend to
be slave drivers at home. The symbol for this sign is the mountain goat, thus they are steady and surefooted. They
love law and order, and as an earth sign, everything must make sense to them.
These move up in the world by alternating security and ambition as their goals. They desire money, because
Capricorn is a long-lived sign. This need for security can make them stingy and at times greedy.
They are old when they are young and young when they are old. As a child they may be in poor health, but once
they pass the early years they can live to a ripe old age.

There are many components to each of our birth charts. Besides our sun sign we have all the rest of the planets and other signs existing in some area of our chart at the moment of our birth. Our lattitude and longetude also alters things, as well as the relativity of all these things to each other. We are as individual as snowflakes, and as joined as snow. In this column we will look at the "big" picture in general.
